 Fundraiser/Communication Specialist
SOS Children’s Villages Georgia is seeking to recruit a Fundraiser/Communication Specialist who will assist an organization in fundraising activities for the promotion of the well-being of socially needy children and their families.
 
Purpose
The fundraising component of SOS Children’s Villages Georgia aims to increase funding from donors and corporate foundations/companies in order to financially support activities and projects of the organization. He/she will maintain and improve the visibility of the organization through innovative strategies. The fundraising activities consist of identifying funding sources, contacting corporate organizations/donors and keeping them informed through regular communication and reports, newsletters, or other channels.
 
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Lead, plan, develop and administer the fundraising activities of the organization;
  • Prepare and update a fundraising strategy, identifying objectives and partners;
  • Seek potential funding opportunities;
  • Liaise with programme and financial departments of the organization to initiate/identify suitable projects;
  • Keep all donors and corporate foundations/companies informed on supported projects through timely and relevant reports and updates as required;
  • Ensure that fundraising practices reflect the mission, vision and priorities of the organization;
  • Network and forge links with relevant stakeholders and organizations/companies to ensure continued support for existing and new initiatives;
  • Monitor, analyse and evaluate each campaign and activity;
  • Organize PR activities in order to support the fundraising activities and promote organization’s brand;
  • Support and coordinate the facilities in their local fundraising activities, such as donations in kind;
  • Monitor competitors in terms of fundraising and PR, the development in the market, as well as fundraising-related legal regulations (tax exemptions, data protection etc.);
  • Ensure that communication for fundraising activities follows the principles on the protection of the rights of the child (including respect of the children’s right to privacy).
 
Requirements:
  • A degree in public relations, marketing or related field is preferred;
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in fundraising;
  • Experience working with Donors/Corporate Foundations;
  • Good knowledge of social media usage;
  • Excellent written and spoken English;
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point especially Access) commands;
  • Self-motivated, determined, innovative, pro-active and with a “can do” mentality, i.e. ability to identify and take advantage of fundraising opportunities;
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills;
  • Target driven attitude to fundraising;
 
  • Able to deal with persons in high (social) positions and to get along with various types of people; contact links with local businesses;
  • Highly organized, flexible, independent, self-starter, good team player, self-assured and detail oriented with ability to multitask;
  • Conveys written information in a well organised, accurate and concise manner that can be easily understood by others (e.g. target group).
